ARoS Museum: Your Rainbow Panorama
This circular room is encased with colored glass that fades into the next color like a rainbow. The artist Olafur Eliasson created the panorama to give the viewer a different color version of the city. From the “cool colors” section the city seems to shrink back while in the “warm colors” section the city seems to creep forward. While in the color tunnels, ones eyes gets used to the colors and an optical illusion is created. There are vents in the floor of the panorama that are open to the white deck below. When looking through the vents after being inside the color for some time, the white deck below appeared to be the complementing color of the section.
(The second to last photo was taken outside of Your Rainbow Panorama.)
The artist says, “…uncertainty is important to me, as it encourages people to think and sense beyond the limits within which they are accustomed to moving”. The uncertainty was what I felt while experiencing the exhibit.
